Live demonstration of the affective listener Alfred (http://www.hcm-lab.de/alfred-virtual-character.html), a virtual character developed at the University of Augsburg, which is capable of recognizing and displaying the emotion of a user. The system combines a webcam and a wireless microphone to capture the behavior of the user. The captured signals are processed through the Social Signal Interpretation (SSI, http://hcm-lab.de/ssi.html) framework using EmoVoice (http://hcm-lab.de/EmoVoice.html) and SHORE (http://www.iis.fraunhofer.de/en/bf/bv/ks/gpe/demo/index.jsp). The extracted emotional cues are mapped on a 2-dimensional emotional space, where they are combined before the final decision is sent to the virtual character.
