VLADIVOSTOK/MOSCOW, March 14 (RIA Novosti) - Russian special armed police forces in Vladivostok killed three men on Saturday in a raid on an apartment looking for suspects in an earlier attack on three Chinese businessmen in the Far Eastern Russian city.

The senior assistant to the chief investigator of the Primorye Territory branch of the Prosecutor General's Office said three men suspected of involvement in the attack on the Chinese had been killed.

"The inhabitants of the apartment opened fire with automatic weapons and a grenade launcher," Avrora Rimskaya said. "Law enforcement officers opened fire in response. As a result the three suspects were killed." http://www.webpark.ru/comment/47624

I have just as much stake in seeing a free, stable, prosperous Russia, but those three things can never be together as one with the current hybrid government, which is composed primarily of the vestiges of the KGB (or the FSB, or whatever they're calling themselves these days), the red mob bosses, and oligarchic business interests.

I believe the Russian people have a lot to offer the world, but first they need to shift the boot from their throat.

I am not stereotyping. Russia has an affinity for strongmen with voracious appetites for power. I am not denigrating the Russian people. They share many values in common with us, but the Russian government has proved nothing but an intractable obstacle to progress in world politics, as you doubtless saw with the Syria veto. While the rest of the world wants to treat Russia as Russia, they cannot do so until it sheds its Soviet heritage.

The recent protests were an exception to what has been a century of repression, continuing up to the present day. Journalists who write inconvenient stories disappear. Business' are regularly shaken down for protection money. Bribery is endemic, and is largely how Putin keeps power, as simple repression is no longer efficient enough.

One peaceful march is not enough to wipe away a long history of brutal police state rule.

That's great, that you have so much free space, but it is being driven by "brain-drain", wherein the people who want to make money from their concepts and ideas, usually entrepreneurs, researchers, scientists, etc. leave the country.

At least 62 percent of educated (tertiary school and above) Russians reported they were planning to leave the country in the next five years, or as soon as conditions allowed. That is not conducive to a well-functioning state.

  • @tattat44 People were taking pictures with policemen and gave them a tea. Please leave ur stereotypes before writing some fake facts.

  • @tattat44 3 - we have nothing "bloody." We have only special operations in Daghestan - Dagenstan (as Chechnya) - is the Caucasus region, the Caucasus people, in contrast to Russian, are muslims, we have problems with wild Caucasians for 300 years. We had many wars with em. Have you seen the demonstrations taking place in Russia since December 2011? During these meetings no one was arrested - and the signature of each meeting were more than 100 000 people.

  • @tattat44 1 - Russia exports gas rather than oil. The gas will be one of the most popular sources of energy in the next 40-50 years. 2 - in Russia, about 80% of the population with high education, and special forces are usually 3 high educations. after graduating from high school, all people joins the institutes and universities, we have 50% free spaces in each State University, and everyone can pass the exams and join any university for free.

  • THEY HAVE KILLED THE CHINESE BUSINESSMAN

  • @Detroy90player

Care to explain how I'm wrong in detail?

  • @chivicaus

Spetznaz kill a whole lot more than criminals. There is a reason "rescued by the Spetznaz" is a euphemism for being shot.

What does oil and corruption have to do with the Spetznaz? If your politics revolve around bribes and petrol, the Spetznaz are going to be deployed to support those interests, plain and simple.
