Isabela is our daughter of seven years. A treasure of unlimited value to our family, as is our other children. Incredible, beautiful, productive beings of change and laughter.
Bela and her class (Gumnuts - River School, Maleny, the most awesome of schools) with her teacher River - amazing and caring - are practicing public speaking and each week a selection of students will do a class talk on the weather, random act of kindness, favorite animal etc.
Elle and I decided to do something different, two terms of class mates talking about the weather can be a little boring. How could we spice it up?? Create something silly and uplifting?
After many weeks of planning and some gentle yet persistent persuasion re Bela's reluctance to perform on camera, we had the resources (Elle's two best friends and a sunny day) and the perfect Saturday.
The results are yours to appreciate. We did not even imagine the process would be quiet so silly and fun.
From our perspective as parents - Gabrielle and I - to see Bela laugh and act and do her best really showed us yet again what a gem we have. Some times as parents we forget what amazing beings our children are.
We get caught up in the flow of life, sometimes fighting against the current, forgetting to actually look and see our children, our husband or wife or partner for what they are.
Individual beings of personality and joy, sometimes challenging (usually because we are projecting what we think is right onto the person and not allowing) and mostly incredible in every way.
Try it - take a different perspective when looking upon your kids or loved ones or situation in life.
That's what we got when watching this weather report.
Enjoy,
