Totally breathtaking at 2:24. You can see in his face how much he is enjoying the moment - obviously much aware that it will be his last performance. Wow!! If I could pick a single performance of all time to attend, that one might very well be it. What power. Simply amazing.
Technically, the entire thing was staged (orchestra didn't really play, Pavarotti didn't really sing) because at sub-zero temps, instruments get out of tune really fast & it's hard to sing. So it was pre-recorded. But everyone, from the conductor to the audience, felt like it was a magnificent performance. Pavarotti was/is a master, there's no denying, and I don't think that the allowances made for this performance detract from his greatness.
Prove that it was staged. Show us a link where other people think/state that it was staged. It is near impossible to have it staged and be totally in sync all the time, which is the case here. I think you are full of you know what.
