@MattFoleyMotivation Because in order for Lester to receive sole directing credit, he had to directed at least 50% of the movie, so they reshot many scenes Donner shot, mainly with Reeve and Kidder.

They actually showed this once before the movie was released at the theater. It was on Regis & Kathy Lee. When Margot Kidder appeared to plug the movie. I remember scratching my head saying what the.... When the movie came out, I was really disappointed it had been cut.
