At least they played music. It is a "marching BAND" at least.

go dow high!

they still march, but they have a totally diff style. Likewise, we focus on the music more than marching, hence having flip folders, but monroe (unlike other directors that do the same) still makes sure we look good...er

this "audio preview" is pretty awesome....lol

do i sense a dow fan in our midst? hmmm...lol
Dow tends to focus on playing pretty music and slow stuff while MHS does lots of drill and loud, fast paced stuff.

The MHS band needs to come with their own ideas instead of borrowing from Dow. As for marching the 'pony trot' MHS does isn't marching. They should have been playing music to honor the vets instead of worrying about their pretty stepping.

@midland61 I'm not sure of the basis of any of your comments. 1) We are influenced by MSU, not by Dow. We have no interest in what Dow does, and for that matter if we "pony trot" as you say, how does that have anything to do with Dow? Dow does their own version of high-step/roll step. 2) High-step is a marching style used by many bands and is a very old style. It has been at Midland High probably since its inception.

3) Marching at the parade and respectfully pausing in front of the courthouse is honoring veterans. Parades in themselves are patriotic, as they are an old military tradition. 4) We did play patriotic music.
Please make respectful comments that are based on facts. I see nothing valid in quarrels between high schools. Enjoy your own program and let us have our own traditions.
