  • bc of the opening mechanism even if it is only 3inches long. If an officer wants to give a person with a kershaw knife a hard time in MD then it will be charged as a illegal weapon, which is a jailable offense. just be careful my friend.

  • always. but you can always refuse to answer any questions that you feel uncomfortable with. Think it it this way - an officer is just a regular citizen until and unless they gain reasonable suspicion that criminal activity is afoot. Either way, why talk?? You can and should selectively answer questions. One more think. I have a huge collection of pocket knives and I recently stopped carrying them bc they are all made by Kershaw. Ther kershaw spring loaded blade can be construed as a switchblade

  • WIll,

    Usually an officer will ask if you have any weapons. BC your knife is presumably legal then it is probably a good idea to tell the officer about it. Also a good idea to take it out (blade in) and show them. This way they have no avenue to get into your pocket. THe presence of the knife in pocket may actually give rise to suspicion that you are further armed but taking it out for them will help nullify that notion. You can be silent at any time you choose. I would give name and address

  • I visit Columbia, MD often because of friends living there. It is nice to know that there are people like you there helping others. I, personally, do not partake of the illegal materials that would be looked for but still it is nice to know that you are supporting the constitution. Bravo good man.

  • ...good video...

    ...I carry a pocket knife with a 3" blade... the type with a clip that is visible on the outside of the pocket...

    1. am I required to alert the officer to the possession of the knife ?

    2. does having or telling them of the knife make it legal to search me further ?

    3.when answering questions;

    a. does answering one question relinquish further 'Silence' ?

    b.can you selectively choose which questions you wish to answer ?
