@175myles The V1 viewfinder is quite awesome. Brighter and larger than the optical viewfinders on my DSLRs

can you just lower a bit your cam?
20cm down just will do..

@TheSnapChick Just wondering: have you ever looked through a NEX-7 or Alpha 65/77 viewfinder :)? (Don't worry, no, don't want to compare it with the V1 viewfinder now, just wondering, if you know that EVF :) ).

@ClatteredTorso Sure, the 1 series has a few features, the most innovative thing is Phase AF inside the sensor, which I believe will become the future in EVIL cameras some time. The fps speed is great. So there are a few needs where this camera blows the others away. But those needs are special, for most needs the NEX is simply the better camera, better image quality, less noise (due to its sensor same as D7000) and costs less. Nikon is too late and too expensive with the 1s!

I agree responsiveness is key and so is control. Sure the AF is fast and the UI isn't sluggish, but I hate that PASM is not on the mode dial and no direct access to change aperture, shutter and ISO. Also, why not use the standard Nikon hotshoe? Even the P&S P7000 has it. It seems to me Nikon deliberately crippled this camera to avoid cannibalizing their DSLRs and it's expensive to boot.
OTOH, the Pany G3 has a bigger sensor, more features, better controls, and more lenses. It's also cheaper.

@iflipmac Aperture and shutter speed are changed manually with the rocker and spin dial on the back of the camera. It is easier to shoot manual on this camera than with my D3100. This camera is not for everyone. Personally, I enjoy it very much. I use it daily.

If you're shooting sync speed at a decently small aperture, with low ISO, you shouldn't face any problems with having lights on... Therefore eliminating focus issues. Especially for the V1.

@djembedrummer Agreed, but my DSLRs don't have a problem with my normal lighting setup... just a difference between them and the V1.

@TheSnapChick Sync speed on the V1 is the same though? Are you shooting with electronic shutter or with mechanical? Electronic is 1/60th of a second.

@djembedrummer Mechanical shutter on the V1 syncs at 1/250th. This is unrelated to the camera's ability (or non-ability) to focus quickly in low light.
