Alexander the Great never missed a chance to verify his pride for his Greek ancestry. His parents had Greek origins. Alexander considered himself as a Greek. He spoke Greek. He grew up and was educated from famous Greek teachers like Aristotle and had as his favourite book Iliad of Homer. He worshipped the same gods like the rest of Greeks. He undertook and accompliced to a military campaign based on the long-term hostility between Greeks and Persians, as leader of the Greeks. Both he and his army spread the ancient Greek language and culture to the fringes of India and therefore Alexander has justifiably been used for centuries as a symbol of Greek civilisation.

  • @thuzan117

Those who don't care about the outside world do not make campaigns all over it. There are many kinds of empires, take for example Great Britain, it was an empire but not an ordinary one, it had colonies all over the world, its lands were not close to each other! Did i tell u that Greeks before Alexander were unified? I never said that, pay attention to what i am saying! Read in Plato what the high priest of Sais told Solon and u will see what Greeks had done in the distant past!

  • @thuzan117

Dear buddy, it's not if i tell u but whether u understand or even believe what i will tell you, that's why i told you it's for those who are initiated in the ancient Greek mysteries. Hints of that task you can find in Alexander's talk with Diogenis, in which he said that he will follow the steps of Dionysus, Dionysus had done a similar campaign to the east long before Alexander.

  • @SPARTANsenator7 if that's all you can tell us you may as well have just said nothing, just sat there in a corner looking creepy and mysterious. alexander was a great man but he died before naming a successor or even making it back to greece. his kingdom eventually tore itself apart as his generals fought over it. i have no idea what if anything of meaning he could have accomplished after hydaspus to outdo those realities.

  • @SPARTANsenator7 ugh colonies doesn't mean they cared about the outside world, it just means they colonized. the greeks were very arrogant, as is demonstrated by the original meaning of the word "barbarian" which meant those who do not speak greek. they weren't isolationist and they traded extensively but there was no empire until alexander the great, the closest thing to one was the delian league but honestly it was more like nato turned into an extortion racket. they were never unified.

  • @koundinya75

Alexander's task was more than conquer the world, his real task had to do with ancient Greek mysteries and only the initiated ones could understand his mission, i can only tell you this........he was successful.

  • @thuzan117

Since they had colonies all over the Mediteranean and the Black sea how were they apathetic to the outside world? Greeks had gone to India in the distant past even before Alexander, you can find that in the Indian works Ramayana and Mahabarata. Alexander as he said himself followed the steps of Dionysus.

  • 1:39 uh superpowers? not to undermine the greeks but until alexander the greats empire they were more or less content to sit in mainland greece and search for colonies. actually the greeks were remarkably apathetic of the outside world and until the persians threatened them mostly warred among themselves.

  • Alexender is a god! (to me)

  • @SPARTANsenator7 That is what my point is.. He wanted to conquer the world to prove him as a great lord/warrior. Hence he started challenging the kingdoms. After hydaspes event he did not move further to challenge the kings. Whereas Genghis has conquered most parts of Europe/Asia. Approach both warriors have followed might be different but the way Genghis established his kingdom made huge changes in human history. Again I am not against any of these warriors. It was just history ... :-)

  • @koundinya75

First of all rockfellia is a she and not a dude, seconldy there are more to Alexander's decision. Alexander had completed his task!

  • @rockfellia You are wrong dude. You may like him as a great warrior but please know the history. After hydaspes event he clearly understood the situation in Indian subcontinent. He decided to go back after looking at army of Magadha empire lead by Nanda dynasty and also when he see small kingdoms got united against him in this region. For this matter I see Genghis Khan as dangerous warrior when compare with Alexander. I am not against any one but don't spoil history. This is humble request.

  • @AntonisTHESS

Na sai kala file, erxontai ki alla.....

  • MPRAVO SOU GIA TO VIIDEO.....

  • @rockfellia

and we love you for that!

  • @EllinMK I am greek in my way, because of my forefathers and because of my wonderful greek friends who have transmitted me their feelings, their warmth and their pride.

  • @rockfellia "Not any Greek is a Greek, but anyone can be a Greek"Acording to the ideology and not to nationality. I am still trying to be a Greek because i like it,i want it i cant live without it. But you talking very wise and you are on your way a Greek!

  • @EllinMK Greek language is a "mother language", it was the basis for many languages and writing systems. In romanian, my language, there are many words that come from greek.

  • @rockfellia about your vid title "Apocalyptica"... Apocalypse (Greek: ἀποκάλυψις apokálypsis; "lifting of the veil" or "revelation :))

  • @rockfellia Languages and languages...the Humans language is the right one.And history talking the right language. We are what we are and we have any reason to be proud for it.But we have the responsibility too to stay on the right side and protect history. Many countries and nations had heroes nad sword fighters and bowers and nad nadBut the weapon of the future had the Greeks...the Alphabet.

I dont know and i dont care who likes it or not but truth is truth!

  • @EllinMK Hahahaha...you are so right! Some people don't even open a history book! And if they are english speakers, they think that is enough, they don't need to listen to other languages.

  • "There is nothing impossible to him who will try". This was Alexander ...the lord of the war, the master of impossible..

  • Καλή δουλεια Spartan

  • @CanadianNoob17 Hello there! hello to Canada! We are Greeks :))

Since 4.000 years! Great history,Great country, good people...well about that crisis of now that is a small dirt through the years...thats nothing! Nothing can bring us to fall. We growing up with our history and Greek ideology...its on our blood
