  • @TheTechRevolution There are few R&Ds going on to eliminating the need of a priori targets. Based on Oxford's "PTAM," Zenitum is working on an engine called "D-Track" - allowing users to track previously unknown space & depth in real-time. But it is still unstable if you compare to those commercial grade fiduciary tracking technologies. Search "D-Track" or "iKat" from YouTube for Demo.

  • @TheTechRevolution As a technical term, whenever you are not use conventional "fiduciary" marker (as you find them from ARToolKit), we generally say it is markerless. In more generic term, you are definitely right. Like the demo, if you can track the natural texture of ordinary images, you say it's "markerless." Until we eliminate the need of any target images or object to be tracked, you will see many time like this dubbed as "Markerless."

  • The title for this video is inaccurate. This is not markerless augmented reality. It looks like it is using the magazine covers as the markers......
