This is the opening segment from Tugboat Annie, in which Frankie plays the young son of Annie and her ne'er do well husband, played with great aplomb by the fabulous Marie Dressler and Wallace Beery.
Both Marie Dressler & Wallace Beery both made the transition from silent films into talkies and were once the highest paid actress and actor in films. Thanks for posting!!
Haha- Wallace Beery shoulda broke out into "brother can you spare a dime' ! Saw this film ( a pristine print ) on TCM today. Excellent stuff with common folk overcoming the odds, at the height of the great depression. On par, I would argue, with "Grapes of Wrath".
I liked the TV series myself. And I can remember when .25 would get me into a saturday matinee. ( 1961 )
