  • Hi Davie, spent the long winter months here in Ontario watching your videos and tying your patterns. Great stuff. Trying to learn and apply the loch style to my home waters on Lake Ontario. First two fish of the season on the telephone box, top dropper. The largest an 8 pounder. Not a bad start eh? Many thanks, love the work you do.

  • Hi forgie007,

Well done on catching a wonderful fish but the credit is all down to you as it was you that tyed and fished the fly, I appreciate you letting me know...

    All the best Davie

  • i really love you're work, and i think you're amazing. but the only problem is that you use so many materials that i don't have :( can you ty a few fly's which are very good and everyone can have the materials maybe? :)

    greets from holland ;)

  • Hi vikking95,

Let me know of a couple of flies you would like me to tye and I'll tye one for you...

    All the best Davie

  • Love, love, love your work! HATE, that I can't buy yellow Metz grade 2 . I have no clue/desire to dye, do you recommend another?

Would kill to see you do a golden olive bumble! Or any bumble variation. Thank you dearly for your help!

    Scott

  • Hi Scott,

The only other cape that I use for these flies would be a chinese cock but you will always get more flies from a saddle..I have a Invicta Bumble on youtube which you will like, tyed very much like the Golden Olive Bumble...

    All the best Davie

  • Hi Davie, Another great fly, i'm addicted to watching your videos better than watching sky TV anyway since this is the first year i've started fly fishing its only taken 61 years to realise what i've been missing , since the start of my cancer problem i made a list of things to do before its to late, i've done the first, second was pike fishing, could you tye a fly for pike as i've heard they take fly, that would be great. Regards Alan

  • @DavieMcPhail thanks :) could you maybe tye a few streamers which work well on pike and bass? Or other nymphs that works well, which you can tye with a few materials? The other problem is that you tye fly's for trout and salmon, and i think you're awesome at tying those but i live in the Netherlands. And there isn't any trout or salmon in my country.

Anyways thanks for your help. And i'm sorry for my english i hope that's ok ;)

greets from holland and all the best ;)

  • Those Irish fish sure like fancy dressed flies... Well done, thanks for doing these videos.

  • great pattern thanks.... i gave it a go and used blue jay instead of blue guinea fowl... cant wait till next season to try it
