About four years ago my friend Jim Harris, a retired principal from Wausau, and I raised enough money to pay for fifteen book box libraries. I then paid to have the National LIbrary of Laos provide training for the teachers in the schools who would be receiving the book box libraries. In this video you see a little of the handover ceremony, but the reason I've posted this video clip is to highlight the role of the National LIbrary of Laos Children's Librarian. She is amazing, a passionate promoter of literacy for children and students in Laos and an extraordinarily talented presenter for both children and teachers. In this video she is leading activities for all the students gathered to celebrate the arrival of their new book box library. Really, it's just a drop in the water, but where there hasn't been any books before, still greatly appreciated.
she is a good teacher!!!
