There is a much easier way of doing this.Theres alot of shit he leaves out. that will give you a headache trying to figutre out. You don't need to uninstall shit to install these plugins.

You say I`ve to uninstall GIMP.
But then what about all my already installed extensions like the complete Script Fu and all the different brushes plug ins?
Will I have to copy all of them back in or do they stay for after the reinstallation of GIMP?

@ePicShare Not sure how Gimp deals with plugins during uninstall as this was actually done on a new PC. I would recommend backing up your plugins, scripts and brushes folders etc - before uninstalling - in case the uninstall removes them. They you can simply copy them back if you find that they have been deleted.

@ePicShare I tested an uninstall and reinstall on Windows and found everything still there - the only thing that lacked was the theme and that was easily fixed with Gimp themes. I Suggest - Go into the gimp folders in Program Files and the Gimp folders in Documents and Settings - backup everything and then uninstall, reinstall, and if anything is missing afterwards, you can put it back in using backups. But I don't think this will be necessary.
