@Blahblerdeda It will probably mess up normal ice skate blades. Our goal is to make blades designed for aggressive ice skating applications that would allow for this type of use without excessive damage to the blade. However, the blades can always be sharpened to get the edges back.
Please explain how this is an "invention". Last time I checked, "inventing" meant creating something that fulfills a need or makes it easier to perform an action. What I'm seeing here is not an invention, you just grabbed some pipes and stuff and made an ice rink into a boarding zone. I'm not saying this is a bad idea, I'm sure you'll have fun doing tricks on ice, but my point is that this is more of an IMPROVEMENT of an already existing INVENTION.
@Linklic Patents can be awarded to significant improvements on an existing product, thus qualifying as an invention. The car was still a car after it got intermittent wipers, but intermittent wipers was an invention. Everyone seems to think we're calling the ramps an invention, but we were actually showing off the blade designs at the American Inventor auditions.
Ah, I see what you mean. And maybe people think that you're calling the ramps your invention because you said so in the video description, and your website is called "Ice Ramps". Even so, despite your points being valid, I do not see any major improvements I'd call an invention. Maybe it is because I'm not a skater, much less an ice skater. All I see are some novel ice blades for your skates.
@Linklic I didn't pick the name, or else we'd be called The Aggressive Ice Skating Association or similar. If you were designing aggressive ice skating equipment, you'd understand the challenges that need to be overcome. Some of these are challenges similar to those that both inline skate companies and skateboard companies had to overcome when those sports went aggressive. Mainly, providing the features and ruggedness necessary to enable and withstand the abuse the sport requires.
