I
talked to a guy with an 1860 steinway on youtube, and he had the emboss on
the iron. He said the emboss was surprisingly irregular on his steinway. This makes me think that Steinway had not yet settled on embossing the
harps. What are you doing to restore your steinway? In the video, how much work
had you already done to the piano? My email is clarkmassey@gmail.com

I think it is a steinway. I think this for two reasons:
Your piano has the same eagle and says steinway. My piano went through
a rough refinish job where the maker mark was removed.
I emailed antique piano shop. They said they had seen a few steinway
eagle pianos that did not have the steinway name embossed on the iron.

AH, THERE IT IS; THE STEINWAY.
I do not think I can tell you about the american Steinways, but there is one exemplar of a Grotrian Steinweg Square piano with crossed strings (from Braunschweig/Germany - but with a Steinway New York iron cast frame.
There must have been still collaboration in the 1860ies at least ...
... some sort of transatlantic joint-venture ...
Is your exemplar with three chords per tone?
Best regards

Great playing and a beautiful Steinway! - I trust and pray that you will learn of its history and past!
I have found another piano with the same eagle. Did you find anything out about it? Serial number is in the 6,000's.

Hello thanks for your message. The serial number I have 5060. Do you have any more information about the piano you found with the same eagle? Is it a steinway, or a different company? Do you have any pictures. Any imformation you have would be greatly appreciated. Regards Jonathan
