Sure you've seen servo controlled lights before, but have you ever seen the entire light rig (trusses) move on a servo? Watch the light trusses in this video. These guys rock the house!

I wish I could meet these guys that setup the lights and see how it all works! Amazing job tech guys!

  • If you want to see a whole lighting rig moving and if you are in anyway interested in lighting you will know that Pink Floyd on the 1994 "Pulse" tour (filmed at earls court) is possibly the best lighting show in history (not technically but just for volume of lights!)

  • Its not dmx controlled, it would be done using midi as dmx has no error checking.

  • @JonasClark I take that back! The 2010 show had the platforms to bring down three performers, as well as two giant catwalks that came down and hung 20 feet over the audience as performers walked out. Incredible, and there's no telling what they'll do this year, though it's certain that they'll top last year's show somehow. I'm torn between hunting up video of tour stops before mine, or just waiting to see what pops up!

  • @ahughestv it's probably neither of both. It's probably a custom protocol /signal made by the company that makes the hoists used here.

  • moving trusses are controlled by winches haha not servos

  • 0:37 kinda looks like a face lol.

  • @HopefulArtist you've seen TSO lately? Their current Winter Tour in my opinion is equivalent or maybe even better than the Pulse Tour set up. That's just my opinion. Check them out

  • Yes, TSO's rings and effects are over-the-top, but that's the point. My pick of their rigs so far was 2008-09: nine moving trusses, three sets of three concentric squares, with each corner of each square controllable. The centermost squares had LED screens on the underside, and were used as platforms to bring down three performers, who played solos before being brought to stage level. The back wall had five more horizontal, moving truss bars. The effect was big but geometric and balanced.

  • Search "cyberhoist" and watch the first movie

  • they have also made scene setters for automated truss rigs, all the dmx does is send a cue to the scene setter and it does what it has to do. this has the fault sensor. So yes it technically is DMX controlled but can be over written by the lead rigger.

  • its what can u please explain cause i would like to use a moving truss

  • this cannot be dmx controlled, well it could, but it would be a bitch to do.
