  • How was this made?

  • With 3D Studio Max

  • Really? Was it a particle effect or atmosphere?

  • None of them.

I use tube polygon, and material effect to create slipstream texture and motion. (tube polygon doesn't move)

Aye, they obviously do have a science department otherwise they'd die at every stellar phenomenom.

What I mean is they never appeared on screen, so they probably weren't that important. I just picture a Klingon in a big white lab coat...... with a batleth strapped to his back.

  • @HarakMolova Well a society that has developed warp drive must have someone around who knows science :) Their roughly similar to ancient japan, you think of Japan you think of samurai, but you cant have a society all warriors! Even though the warriors may dominate the culture and government someone has to grow the food, build the ships and develop new technologies. Jadiza Dax said the "Klingons are as diverse a people as any".

  • @mattwho81

Do Klingons even care about science? :P

  • @HarakMolova Ah No meant that ships could go into any situation and deal with any problem. Any starship could go on missions for Science, medical, diplomatic or combat, (except Defiant of course). Whereas klingons had ships dedicated to specific tasks... though we never did get to see a klingon science ship :). Anyway i think we can agree on this, the Federation built their ships that way out of choice, it was part of their philosophy. But some ships gave more emphasis to a certain role.

  • @mattwho81

I don't remember which treaty it was but they weren't a go anywhere do anything force. They were peace keepers. They had dozens of directives for various things. Are you even talking about Starfleet??

Check memory alpha. They are a Peace Keeping force, so why have Warships and Battlecruisers. They used names such as Tactical Escort, but no Warships because it gives off the wrong message.

  • @HarakMolova Then who banned them? Their ships were built around a "Go anywhere, do anything" philosophy but wasn't that gene roddenbury's choice. The Defiant was described as "Over gunned and over powered" to explain why they didnt pursue that design further. But i cant remember an episode where they were actually banned.

  • @mattwho81

No, a battle cruiser is anything created primarily for battle.

The federation were banned from creating them. They got around by calling most of their warships Deep Space Exploration Vessels. Have you noticed that the designations for all starfleet vessels have nothing to do with combat?

  • @HarakMolova How do you define warship, Are you thinking that it must have a clocking device? (Which the Federation had indeed signed a treaty against) When i say Warship i simply mean a vessel configured primarily for combat, but not exlusively so. For example the Voyager had science labs and physicists aboard, but in the pilot was officially classed as a "Long Range Tactical vessel". Also it didnt have any families aboard... at least not at first.

  • @mattwho81

Check the lore. The federation was banned from making warships/ battlecruisers, etc
