i believe elvis' version was inspired by both this version and the arrangement of the timi yuro version.both of which he owned in his collection at home.

@GrimmjowProduction Roy Hamilton was a Boxer before he started singing. He didn't like hurting people so he quit.

OMG!!! I think Roy Hamilton had one of the most beautiful voices i've ever heard!!!! That photo taken with Elvis is wonderfull

Awesome track.
His Jaw looks like something you would break your fist on, bet he would do good as a boxer.

Sorry, but this doesn't grab llike the version by Timi Yuro, who grabbed it by the horns and sang her heart out to it. Pure emotion, and one of the greatest female white soul singers ever. Forget Dusty Springfield as the white queen of soul. That was Timi's crown although she went unnoticed. She should have been a massive star

For those who say elvis was a raceist not true at all.

Beautiful, I can hear a little Jackie Wilson in his voice ( luv me some Jackie W. ) but anyway M.S. Timi Yuro is in my top 5 female singers of all time so with that said I have to give this song to TIMI YURO !

how can you compare caterwalling with good singing?
One of the great unsung heros of the Popular & Rock & Roll era of the early 50s and 60s. Roy was a huge influence on Jackie Wilson, Elvis Presley and so many other artists that overshadowed his career. He had few chart records after "You Can Have Her", his voice remained superb right up till he died in his early 40s ..though he did some of his best work for RCA Records, he never scored a hit on that label. One of the most influential artist and so badly neglected today.
