I came here also form the HUB. I thought that narration was from this UK ending.

They never said anything about Prime coming back when this movie first came out. The first time I heard this is when Kid Rhino brought this movie back out in like 1999

I think I saw this version awhile back. I wonder why the U.S. version didn't have this. But IN the movie when Optimus died they made CLEAR that he'll be back anyways. Cuz when Optimus was dying the 1st thing he said was "Do not grieve. Soon..I shall be one with the matrix." And that eventually came true later on in the G2 series.

The whole reason they did that with the U.K. version is because of all the HUGE complaints received from parents, kids, and adults of all ages when Optimus Prime died.
Proof of this is the way G.I. Joe's Duke character was supposed to die in G.I. Joe: The Movie. But I specifically read in interviews that so many complaints were received about Optimus Prime's death that they decided to keep Duke alive in G.I. Joe.
None of this would helped me though. Megatron/Galvatron was my favorite!

It wasn't.
US release was in August, it wasn't released in the UK until December.
