@THEFEASTOFTHEDROWNED really, the SDLP vote has been in decline in every election since the last decade, the only way they could hold onto Westminster is with teh assitance of thousand sof Unionisst voters, even the the stoop mouth piece the Irish News sstated on saturday May 8th that the SDLP could lose one of their assembly seats! SF will wipe the floor with them, the SDLP are a joke!

Clearly some unionists are willing to vote for a nationalist party. Maybe that's to keep Sinn Fein out of Stormont - then again, maybe Sinn Fein wouldn't seem so detestable to unionists (especially the younger ones) if their platform wasn't so stubbornly one-sided.

I'm sure a lot of protestants could be convinced that Sinn Fein is a decent party with decent policies if they just sold themselves better.

well the answer to the question is that those 6,000 vote tactically to ensure sinn fein do not win the south down MP seat. the unionist minority community in the south down constituency see the sdlp as the lesser of two evils - they aren't fussed on the sdlp becuase they come from a nationalist background but they sure as hell will vote anyone else in for MP to keep sinn fein away from winning the MP seat for south down.
