  • I am starting my bachelor studies in journalism in February. The course seems very international and practical. Still I have no experience with a camera, and this course is all about writing journalism, it seems. Do you think a bachelor in journalism (not photojournalism) will provide a good foundation for a photojournalist? Is it a good idea to combine this degree with a photography or photojournalism course after my bachelor in journalism?

  • I guess my question would be how do I get started?? WHO do I contact or where do I look to see who's hiring?

  • @m11811one I agree, pride should be taken for each assignment. Great point!

  • Great tips! I'm an aspiring photojournalist. I want to be there. I was thinking about the term/idea of photojournalism and you took the words right out of my mouth: Being a fly on the wall.

  • The green pen popping up was sort of weird but the information was good :)

  • what are some websites, newspapers and magazines that I can contact to sell my pictures and how can I start?

  • I think Anthony needs a new camera. He needs to sort out his windows too before they rot out of their frames. Now, what was he talking about? I missed it.

  • The advice is good. Photojournalists are hired to capture interesting images from daily assignments. It's important to get technically sound photographs even if you're covering small community events. Too many photographers think they don't have to do an outstanding job if they're not covering pro sports, international events or major spot news. Readers deserve the best effort at a frog jumping contest or if it's a portrait of a guy who grew a large vegetable in his garden.
