HOYTS THEATRES AUSTRALIA training film from the 1940's. Made to show how wonderful HOYTS were to their staff and for their education on the HOYTS way of doing things. Hilarious in places, it shows how to do everything neither HOYTS nor pretty much any other cinema chain does anymore...service with courtesy and a smile. In two parts...
I miss the old style cinemas with their art-deco foyers and quality service, not to mention being dotted all over the suburbs. Television killed the majority of these cinemas, back in the 40s there were four of these close to where I live now. Now there are none. But fortunately in Melbourne there's the Astor Theatre in East St Kilda, the last one standing, screening classic and recent films in 35mm and digital.
