Tyson used torque in his legs for punching power, lennox lewis was a natural big man...Joe Louis I believe had that natural power that was freakish...My dad seen him fight live, he sat five rows back and could hear the punches and explained to like the punches sounded like a gun going off.. and his opponent would wince in pain! Joe Louis was in my mind the best puncher that ever lived!

Lmao, Thats exactly what I'm telling you. Fighters back then fought at a faster pace whether you choose to believe it or not. How many fighters to do throw 70 to 100 punches a round because that was normal back then. Especially in the lighter weight divisions. You can count the good fighters on one hand who fight at that pace today and no and out of shape person could not fight 15 rounds at a moderate pace. The avg. person couldn't go 3 rounds.
-
@JcLeopard an out of shape person can fight 15 rounds at a moderate pace, but it takes a well trained person to fight at a fast pace.
-
@sk8forlife90 You really don't no what your talking about do you. I've watched rounds of Joe Louis fights where he threw 80 punches, I counted them. I've seen rounds of Sugar Ray Robinsons fights where he has thrown over 100 punches and landed more than half. Don't even get me started on the great Henry Armstrong when you talk about intensity. Nowadays a fighter who throws 60 a rd its considered a fast pace. When the avg. boxer today can go 15 rds then you can talk to me about condition.
-
@JcLeopard lol, a lot of fighters can lay out guys a lot heavier than them. and of course the fighters would have a higher average if they had a lot more rounds. but today the fighters fight at a much faster and intense pace. that's why they look more ripped because they are much better conditioned.
-
Please, Todays fighters would pass out if they had to go 15 rds. The avg. boxer today did not have the stamina that fighters of yesterday had. Also the punch per round average was much higher back then over 15 rd. I've watched oldschool fights were 70 to 100 blows are thrown. Also back then the gloves where thinner and the fighters had to take harder blows. Joe Louis had the power and technique to lay out men much larger than himself. What 200 pound fighter today can lay out a 265 lb. boxer.

@YogiBear13 yeah but their are just so many more heavyweights in history that are faster more skilled fighters. and the lighter weight fighters are much faster and more skilled then the fighters back then to.
-
Please heavyweights today are a complete joke. The only ones that would give him some problems are the Klit brothers and that is based on size alone they were certainly not more skilled. That size alone would not have helped Wlad anyways a Louis right hand would put him out before round 7. Vitali would be a bigger challenge because he is a gritter fighter but Louis would outbox him if he could get inside enough.
The most dominant and greatest heavyweight champion ever.
