Jim demonstrates the incredibly technical Ballerina launch technique. Please do not try to duplicate this maneuver.

  • That prop could have really hurt if not killed bystanders. Why would someone put not only others at risk but himself . Everyone should see this video that wants to get into this sport and learn to never do things like this . Good learner video. Should be added to the risk and rewards video for all new pilots to see this .

  • @mrmonstercat1 - Firstly, there were no "bystanders", just involved pilots. Secondly, you are completely unaware of the circumstances of this event. Remember, this video was edited. The seemingly reckless actions depicted actually occurred over and extended period of time in a much more controlled manner than it appears. Those things aside, I completely agree with you about the fact that it is a perfect example of what not to do.

  • Sure, let's hear it.

  • Well, you see, he REALLY understands laminar beach winds and REALLY has mastered the beach power slide and therefore, no harm no foul.

  • Actually it's not funny at all, pretty sad. Looked like everyone wanted the guy to get into the air, everyone but the guy hooked into the wing. Flying paragliders isn't for everyone, and this demonstrates that.

  • If you would look past your upturned nose, you can see that the guy really does want to launch. Would you like to know more?

  • lamentable, desprestigia este deòrte una lastima

  • if you cant launch in the conditions you shouldn't fly. kept trying until he broke somthing. atleast it wasn't him

  • where and how much for a tandem rig?

  • winds were gusty making it very difficult.

  • a great video...

    we've all had those days....

  • Whatever you say man. If you call that "Mastering" laminar beach air...uuuuum...I guess every other pilot there was way, way, way too over skilled. Not trying to bash or make fun of anyone. I've just never seen a self-sufficient pilot need that much support and help. Beach air is as smooth as it gets. Maybe he should just kite for a few months. I wouldn't recommend flying until a pilots wing handling was mediocre at best. Not mediocre as a team effort. Keep at it and be safe.
