The Very First version of Somebody to love (made in 1965), called someone to love, The Live version (made in 1966) and Jefferson Airplane's version are much better , but this version is okay

  • I LOVE this version actually better than the hit version, really raw sounding And Father Bruce another great gem. !000 times better than We built this city, what went wrong there?

  • @Kitandroxandbec

well I actually like the Jefferson Airplane version better than this one, but I agree with you about we built this city, terrible song!

  • Hey can someone please point me to an interview with grace slick where she talks about the Great society? I can't find one :(

  • Somebody to love, not someone, isn't it?

  • @milojohn94

noo this studio version was called someone to love, the name didn't change till after the single was made, I can't remember if JA changed the name or if TGS changed it for live performances

  • @marrrrrrks grace Slick wrote it for the great society and it was called someone to love. later she played and recorded it with jefferson airplane and it was called somebody to love

  • @Kurtly1967

No Darby Slick wrote it, but I think you're right about the name.

  • I like the outro on the JA version, but this is sooo '66 San Francisco garage/psyc

  • Love this as an alternate version. The moody rythm guitar really captures the dark beatnik, pre hippie and over the top psychedelic era that would follow.JA's version is tighter and more intense but this one has lots of atmosphere.

  • @marrrrrrks ok :)

  • this is the best version mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, sway with it

  • Wow this blew me away, very intense without overstating it.

  • Sucks compared to the later incarnation. Funny how so many 50s and 60s songs were improved upon by the 2nd or 3rd take on them by other artists. Today, though, re-do a song and you'll get pounded on for tainting a classic.
