Perhaps never again will any athlete, let alone a cancer survivor, dominate the most grueling event in sports like Lance Armstrong did. In winning seven consecutive Tours from 1999-2005, Armstrong not only made history but transformed cycling. (Dec. 15)

Didn't need the front derailleur, the heavier left shifter, and the chain rings for those steep mountains. So minus well take them out and just throw in the front brakes and cheap lighter brake levers.

    That's weight saving.

  • Even IF he is/was rude...this was "Best Athlete of the Decade" not "Nicest Guy of the Decade" ...which looking back on now, I guess Tiger was just that for the better part of the last decade lol. look @ it this way...if any NFL team would win the Super Bowl 7 years in a row...then what? Oh yeah, he JUST rides a bike...

  • Whoever this guy is lobbying for Lance to be Athlete of the Decade he does an amazing job of mispronouncing everything ancd sounding like he knows nothing about his subject.

  • Lance would never have been ranked, EPO were found in his 1999 samples, just read Ashenden interview on velocitynation to learn more about them.

From 99 to 2005 he rode with a 48-49 hematocrit despite having a natural 41%. How is it possible without doping? Altitude tent or training high don't give such increases! For the first time, blood was monitored in 2009, and "therefore' he had just a 45% as max.

Normaly hct decreases by 3 or 4 point on TDF so 45% is a clear sign of blood manipulation.

  • Lance should have won. How could they pick a guy that plays golf over the greatest athlete in history

  • After reading his book he does admit that before his cancer he was an arrogant jerk, but since has changed his ways. Do you think he would be a rude person trying to stop the worlds most deadly disease?

  • Nearly every winner of the Tour de France has doping allegations and Lance has never tested positive so really they are just that, allegations. Not something you can prove like Tiger Woods affairs.

  • What about the roid allegations?

  • I heard he is rude
