Well I have been wanting to get some onboard footage whilst riding the bike for a while now, and this is my first attempt. The road is from Stokesley to Helmsley in North Yorkshire -- the B1257, quite a picturesque road.
Although the scenery is stunning, the road has built up a bit of a reputation with bikers thanks to its mix of bends, climbs and falls. It has become known to some as the Yorkshire TT, rightly or wrongly... It is also a challenging road to ride as the surface changes frequently, some areas are prone to debris from farms being deposited by tractors & lorries, and the stretches through the woods can keep the road damp long after the other areas have died out. There is a mix of fast moving traffic (cars & bikes) and slow (lorries & tractors). Ride defensively, within your limits, and slow down for villages if you want to have a go.
North Yorkshire Police say between 1994 and 2004, 160 bikers have lost their lives on this road. More recently the death toll for bikers alone has been:- 2001=13; 2002=23; 2003=28; 2004=17; 2005=21; 2006=13. Between 2006 and 2010, 71 motorcyclists were killed, and a staggering 541 were seriously injured. Don't become a stat.
Ha ha, I wish- it would pay better than driving a bloody lorry for a living! Its only there as info on the road for those who are interested- no references to it in video. Just think that if people decide to have a ride up they should be warned against just turning up and trying to spank it before becoming familiar. That's all. More crashes =more Police... Pertains to be a leisure video? Seriously was it that bad?
