@19111ellyc Actually they sang "uno dui trei quattro" (Italian), "un deux trois quattre" (French), and "ein swei drei 4(sorry didn't recognize that word)" (German), but no "uno dos tres quatro" (Spanish) for our friends South of the Border.

Like Yoshoku, I heard this on Stephen Fry's documentary. Lovely and amusing words borrowed from a wonderful country.
Warmest regards from an Anglo-Canadian across Lake Ontario.

Brings back memories! We used to sing this song around a campfire, as Girl Guides, in South Africa. We had no idea what it meant, but we sang it anyway. Thanks for the memories.....

This song brings to light just an infinitesimal subdivision of America's entertainment industry, and the genius of the Nation's songwriters I grew up listening to this style of music and I'm richer for the experience. I was 17 years old 1959

The USA gave the world great riches in music, and it didn't cost them a penny
