Today i was given this Sony Minidisc recorder with the model code of MZ-R700 from 2002. It came with 7 Mini Discs, that i can record over, it included the Sony Carry Case, And a 3V Sony DC adaptor. It seems to be in great working condition, but i cannot test it as i do not have to correct equipment to do so, other then that, it was free!

  • @PanikJimma stop uploading crappy 64kbps tracks to your ipod.

  • I record in LP4 (66Kbps) mode with my MZ-n510 from wav files and cds via the digital optical cable. as long as the source is not compressed (mp3, wma, etc.) and your MD recorder has the Type S chip, the sound quality is usually better than 128 mp3. however, recording analog or from the computer with the sonicstage software you will want to use the LP2 (132Kbps) mode because in LP4 you will hear digital artifacts and distortion. LP4 mode even in analog is still better than a cassette recording

  • precurser to the umd

  • I got a MZ-n510, Has falled a LOT and it will work forever, Sony's Minidisc system was the best!

  • Minidisc rocks the house!!!!!

  • lucky guy!

  • You're very lucky! I use MiniDisc every day and it far outperforms most portable audio equipment available today in both recording and playback quality. Just try playing the same tune from ipod and then from MiniDisc using a decent pair of headphones or speakers and you'll be amazed at the difference!!! Have fun with it:)

  • i like the sony mini disc player

  • @nickbundy15 It's old, but it's still good, i still prefer the Mini Disc recorder, as they have great quality sound, and are so simple to use, i don't like new "Digital" products, but, that's my opinion

  • Congrats on getting that fine MD recorder for free! I also have an MZ-R700 (the silver model) which I bought in mint condition on ebay some years ago. It's great for recording radio broadcasts.
