British soldiers based at Camp Alamo in Kabul have found a new way to stay fit.
The men from the Embedded Training Team -- who share the camp with members of the Afghan National Army -- have been getting some extra self-defence training, using dummy knives to hone their reflexes.
"It's very physical, and because of the temperature, it's hard work," said Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Andy Nolan of the Light Dragoons. "Even when you get stabbed with a rubber knife, it still stings a bit!"
The classes are based on courses run by the French Foreign Legion.
"The course is run over eight periods of two hours," said WO2 Nolan. "Bear in mind, we've got our day jobs as well, where we're training alongside the Afghan National Army, so that's as much as we can fit in."
