In this guide, Sheriden details the first boss you'll encounter in the Eternity Vault Operation, for both normal and Hard mode versions.

GUIDE TEXT:
Hey this is Sheriden and i'm bringing you a quick guide to the first boss in the Eternity Vault operation. This will be a 8man guide for both the normal version and the hard mode.

The boss is named Annihilation Droid XRR-3. On normal he has 982,170 health, and on hardmode just over a million. You will enter the instance by taking an escape pod to the surface...

Gather up and make sure you buff each other. Once organised, have your tank run up in front, followed by everyone else. You will first face some trash. There will be two turrets, one of the left, and one of the right. You should use crowd control on one of them if you can, as this will make it much easier.

Melee should DPS the power cells below the turrets, rather than jumping up and risking bugging through the pillar. The tank should pick up the droids and if you have an off tank they should try to aggro the turret being focused.

Once this is cleared you'll want to move back so you can regen.

Make sure your operation group is split up into two seperate groups. Each one with their own healer. This will be important when dealing with the bosses main abiltiy "Missile Salvo".

He will sit on the ground and start shooting missles at everyone who is within sight of him. While they dont hit for much on both normal or hard, you won't want everyone taking damage to this. You don't want to push your healers too hard. The tank can stay on the boss but the rest should go hide behind their designated pillar. Have each group set to one of the two pillars.

He will use this ability every nity seconds, and it will last for about 17 seconds. At around 15 secpmds your DPS should run back in to ensure they get a good amount of damage done to the boss.

If your struggling with his enrage timer, then you can always try grouping up under the boss during this ability, and have your healers use AOE heals to keep everyone alive.

The bosses other abilities include the following:

Rocket Burst - He will target a specific player with a red animated mark, and after a few seconds, launch a missle at them. This will do quite a large amount of damage and even more so if they are close to other players. Therefore it is vital, that anyone targeted moves away from the group, and I would suggest using any defensive cooldowns you might have to reduce the dmg. The player will be thrown in a random direction when hit.

Overwhelming Swipe - This abilitiy deals damage and knocks back all players who are in front of the boss. Your range dps should always max distance and spread out, and your melee should spread out around the back and sides of the boss.

Storm Protocol - You'll know when this is ability is coming as the boss will annouce that he is changing tactics. He will use a volley of ground targeted missiles, which places a red circle below player's feet. Everyone must be on their toes and ready to move to avoid damage. It will continue for about 10 seconds, so just keep moving around and avoid them as much as possible. It's worth noting that you will have less time to react and move on hard mode, compared to on normal.

Shockwave - The final main ability used by this boss is Shockwave. He will annouce when its coming by saying "Proximity Violation", and will proceed to lift his main arm and smash it to the ground, doing damage to those close to him. This can simply be healed through with no issues, but if your healers are struggling your melee can always move out, but it will be a DPS loss.

Thats about it for this guide, give it a thumb up if you found it helpful. Be sure to ask any questions you might have in the comments below. We'll bring you the other bosses soon, and nightmare mode specials too.

  • good guide, but why do you split the raid between the two pillars? We do it with everyone going behind one pillar. If you have a Sage/Sorc healer, this is objectively better (since our AoE heal can affect everyone in range).

  • @pnmclaugh This was waaay back when people were in crappy gear. If your healers are up for it, definatly hug his behind and aoe heal. I did suggest that in the video too. It's also "required" for nightmare if you wanna beat the dps timer :)

  • Hey! One question, what's your normal raid composition? 1 tank or 2 tanks? We can't find another tank and thinking going one tank only for the entire EV instance (Doing this on normal mode.) If we do NEED an off tank for what boss?

  • @xxAlesanxx You should just go with 1 tank, you'll be fine.; The only boss where an off tank is really useful is Soa for if your MT gets trapped in a mind trap and can't move the boss.
