  • @Koguryeo19 Hi, I'm wondering what kind of evidence there is for Admiral Lee Soon Shin's famous battle at Myeongnyang in 1597? I especially want to know how many eyewitnesses wrote about that (primary sources) and if there's any physical evidence.

I've heard that this evidence exists from the 임진왜란 해전사(Naval War History during Imjin Invasion), by 이민웅, 청어람미디어 publishing company, 2007, but can't find a couple details:

  • @Koguryeo19 **Primary Sources : 8 diaries(일기)..but were these by 8 different people or did Lee Soon Shin wrote several/all of them or what?

    **Secondary & Tertiary Sources: 4 chronicles(연대기) & 36 collections of books(문집) & 16 other documents. Did they interview eyewitnesses?

**Hostile Witnesses: There are 10 documents written by Chinese and Japanese historians at that time.

**Physical evidence: Is there any physical evidence of sunken Japanese ships in the ocean from that battle?

  • @SkyJack94 lol ;-))

    fucking japs, jok-pa-le!

  • @koreathreekingdoms damn straight ;-))

  • @kkksskkk The geography of the battle site is also crucial. Yi Shoon Shin used the tidal waves of the straits to his advantage. The ships of the Joseon Navy had flat bottoms which made them suitable cannon platforms. Joseon cannons had greater range and accuracy than Japanese cannons. The narrowness of the straight had forced Japanese ships into a tighly packed situation which made them perfect targets for Joseon ships. It was a great victory for 13 ships to defeat more than 300 enemy ships.

  • The outcome was never really in doubt. All the Japanese Navy had were tiny muskets with effective range of up to 50m. Joseon Navy had large calibre naval guns that shot exploding balls of steel up to 400m. The only tactics the Japanese navy had was also to board their enemy's ships (pirate tactics). All you really have to do to defeat them is to stay far and keep hitting them with cannons. In fact, I think you have to lack common sense to lose in something like this.

  • yep... japanese people will be pissed off, I laugh at that as a korean myself

those guys should receive some punishment for what they did to our nation, korea

    damn the japs to hell!

  • To all you japs who cant understand my comment here is the sentence you might understand. " Yi soon Shin took your jap asses back to your shit dirty country and he put cannon dust on your ancestors teeth thats why your jap teeth are yellow now De Su.

  • @rulercoo Oh yeah ur right
