I agree, horse racing is far from cruel. Horses love to run, just watch Black Caviar, she doesn't jet "beaten" to run, she runs because she wants to win! Trainers have to take care not just of the horses physical health but also their mental health, just like for any athlete; Bart Cummings (our greatest trainer) stated that a horse will only run at its best if it is happy and relaxed in doing its job, and he has won 12 Melbourne Cup's!! A horses that doesn't want to run won't, simple.

@equineluva97 I'm not being rude and I hope you don't take it that way, but they are not as fragile as everyone thinks. Yes, they are still growing, but they are loved. Heck, look at Zenyatta. Does she look broken, unloved, and terrified? lol no... shes fit, happy, loved and spunky. Yeah, there are a lot of horses that are injured. But there are more that aren't.

I love it when people who actually knows about horses and uses their brain makes a well-funded video. Namely, the likes of you!

People seem to forget that horses are inteligent and spirited, and sure as hell can't be forced to do anything they don't want to do.

But of course, most horse-sport-haters have only seen horses in TV and PETA videos, and don't know the joy, depth or complexity or horse riding.

if horses dont want to do something they wont so horse racing , cross country ect.. thats what some people dont under stand like people who hate horse racing but anything you do with a horse is dangerous even jumping I love horses :D

more deaths at the in races at this years grand national in one race two horses died after breakining their necks another was shot yesterday Saturday 10th April 2010 the black screens surrounding the horse as it was being shot was shown on tv this happened before the big race

I dont think its wrong to have them race or do any other form of competition; the problem is in the fact that they are started so young, before they're even done growing. Yes, they have more energy and can set faster paces this way, but there would be less injury to them if we waited until they were fully mature to ask so much of them.

i agree. my horse is a ex-racehorse. he is 16 and still loves to run and gallop. that's why he is the perfect jumper. take a look at my videos. they love to run or they wouldn't run!!!!
