  • "Longévité d’une imposture – Michel Foucault,

    suivi de Foucaultphiles et foucaulâtres"

Jean-Marc Mandosio / Éditions de l’Encyclopédie des Nuisances, Paris, 2010.

  • google "the sokal affair" and be enlightened.

  • @mdoob11. Thanks, I realize you are right, Chomsky views have been consistent ever since. My words on Foucault were not incorrect either but you revealed something more important that I did not see : his cold and absolute rationality denies the relevance of morality and justice beyond instrument of controls or "musings". He is not treading the path of humanism. This is worriesome and more so when I realize the times of the TV debate preceded the profoundly sad cambodian khmer rouge genocide.

  • @oneginee Chomsky has made no such changes. And Foucault does have an effective "system of thought". However, he is void of morality or justice; these notions are ideological musings to him. For those who share a moral common ground with Chomsky, that is by accepting elementary notions of justice and freedom, his utopia of pervasive democracy and workers committees is profoundly enticing.

  • if you are fluent in both french and english. comme c'est mon cas (like I am). and you watched the Foucault - Chomsky debate then you would realize that his system of thought was more solid and that of a genius than Chomsky's which is great too in his own right. In fact if you listen to recent discourse by Chomsky you will find he has aligned to what Foucault told him 40 years ago which says a lot.
