Quentin is just basically playing himself.

True true I never thought of it that way. That is actually a pretty well thought out theory. If only this movie was as memorable as top gun.
-
@austinroe1 thats the joke, the movie had hypermasculine undertones that 19 times throughout the movie, crossed the line and became gay undertones.
-
That is not really the last line to the movie...the last line is the much less suggestive "you can be my wingman anytime"
-
If anything, TOP GUN is about hyper-masculinity. Of course, though, much of what we call "gay" has hyper-masculine over and under tones, so it's sometimes difficult to distinguish between the two.

GO THE GAY WAY!!
-
where is this from again?
-
yep Top Gun has to be the gayest movie ever...This scene is pure TRUTH
-
Have you seen the actor's cut? They have the scene of the sword fight.
-
@DeoMachina. Word. You're totally right. He says "You can be my wingman." Right?
3 people go the gay way....

Quentin is just having some fun with some comedic analysis, he's not being an academic here. The "gay" undertones in Top Gun are intentional but not as subversion, but to give the female viewers something to do while their boyfriends watch the jets go fast. It's eye candy pulp fiction (lol) for everybody.
