My new 28 gallon fish tank for my 2 month old baby Platy. All 32 of my of the Fry are still alive and all apear to be healthy. Decorated with blue rocks, some plastic flowers, and a few sticks of real bamboo. A good filter on it and I do about a 10% water change every few days.

  • Hi,

Nice tank u have there, love your setup !

My platy just gave birth and I am thinking of setting up a tank just like yours for them, but was worries that water conditions in the new tank is not as good as my 4 ft planted tank, can i ask how do you prepare your tank before adding the baby platies inside?

    How are they doing now?

    Cheers

  • Hello. I set up the tank with 1/3 bottled water, 1/3 tap, and 1/3 of the water from their previous tank. Every single last fry is still alive today and I have never once checked the water quality. I just change about 1/2 the water once a month and add about a gallon every two or three days or so. Platty are very easy to take care of. Hope this helps.

  • If your fry are in with the parents they are more likely to be eating but since you have a lot of plants they have a good chance of making it.

  • i have alot of plants in my tank my 4 babies are in there with 3 mollies and the mom and dad platy is that ok????

  • that is really nice! Please please check out mine! I love your set up

  • @hiupdown my palty is pregant, should i get like a 2 gallon tank for now to keep the mom in and then take her out when the babues are born? Should i keep it in the 10 gallon and transfer the fry when born?

    Thanks

  • what happens to your lucky bamboo after about a week or a month kept completely under water, does it gets damaged or something. i am also thinking to buy some lucky bamboo for my aquarium decoration.

    Thank you.
