IGNORANT KEITH. Glad you lost.
-
8+2*4+7+100=147
-
was that a repeat?
-
2 + 4 = 6
6 * 8 = 48
48 - 1 =47
100 + 47 = 147
-
2*100= 200
7*8= 56
200-56= 144
144+4= 148
148-1= 147

your ways are too long.It's like driving all around the houses instead of going straight to the destination!
all you need to do to get the answer is 4 plus 2 = 6 multipled by 8 = 48 minus 1 = 47 and finally 47 plus 100 =147

It's quite remarkable that despite the nine-round format continuing for another 14 years, Stephen's score was never beaten (though Allan Saldanha equalled it on 21 November 1996, during the Supreme Championship).
John Snedden would have scored 90 on 21 January 2000 had he not somehow succeeded in blobbing an easy conundrum, while the match of 18 June 1999 had a possible final score of 104, thanks to three nine-letter words...

anotherway of doing 147:
8x7=56,
2x4=8,
8+1=9,
56-9=47,
47+100=147.

I did it slightly different too, although I did hear his 4+1 before doing this:
7x8=56
56-1=55
2x4=8
55-8=47
100=47=147.
147 slightly differently here:
8 - 1 = 7
7 * 7 = 49
49 - 2 = 47
47 + 100 + 147
What a fantastic game this was, and the closing music from the 80s is a treat to listen to.
