According to Vanity Fair it is "the most sumptuous, refined and exclusive ball in the world". This is only one of the definitions that the international press has used to describe Il Ballo del Doge®, the artistic highlight of the Venetian Carnival, a cultural and society evening ranked among the top ten of the international listing of one hundred things that must absolutely be done in a lifetime.
"...because Life is Magic..." was the title of the eighteenth edition of the most sought-after ball by the international jet set organised and directed by Antonia Sautter, designer, costume designer and creator of the event since 1993.
Il Ballo del Doge is not merely a party in period costume, but a great event: an artistic, musical and theatrical event, carefully planned down to the smallest detail, dedicated to colour, song and smiles. The piani nobili, expertly decorated and magically illuminated, welcome many guests and friends from all over the world, all masked and dressed in period costumes from Antonia Sautter's renowned Atelier, to experience magical emotions.
Due to enchanting performances, sumptuous dinner, revels and intriguing proposals, Il Ballo del Doge® is a magical illusion which becomes reality and the poetry of a Dream involving all the senses. A night where anything is possible...
But "..the most beautiful dreams are the ones that will be", and this leads imagination directly to next year's nineteenth edition of Il Ballo del Doge which will take place Saturday 18th February 2012 at Palazzo Pisani Moretta on the Grand Canal.
"Dedicated to all Women who are Queens at heart and all those Men who know how to treasure them" this awaited event will be entitled "Queensessence". It will be a true costume show inspired by Queens of the past, of legend, of imagination and myth. A great show which will interpret the beauty, glamour and passions of these Queens, women from every place and every time...
