Lets look forward to increased cooperation between Europes 2 best navies, the mother of all modern navies, the RN and the mighty and proud MN, its time to let go of the past rivalry and move forward to bring a united and armed European voice to the table of world affairs, the best way to do that is for the British and French militaries and goverments to be more closely aliagned. Hope France gets her PA2 and we keep both QE's, Viv la France and God save the Queen folks!

anything, the Rafale was Developer before the Eurofighter. Rather, the Eurofighter has copied a little rafale. the rafale is much better than the Eurofighter

The French have got their first international customer of Rafale - Indian Air Force ( order for 126 to be placed ) after beating out EF Typhoon, F-18E/F , Gripen NG/IN, MiG-35, F-16IN Block 70.

Dassault was at debut part of the Eurofighter project, but the desires from some countries are different from the French (UK and Germany= interceptor , France like more a lighter high manouvrable and real multirole aircraft and carrier friendly), and Dassault think he can built a better aircraft as the common choices, so The French gouvernment stops the collaboration with EF to take only the Rafale program

@xsf908 PA2 is up in the air because of the world economy, plus oil cost is rising. if they do get one i think they will try and get the 2nd queen Elizabeth carrier at bargain price then modify it to Frances needs. Wikipedia reports say the French government will decide this year or next if and when they get PA2.

@SgtH3nry3, All European armed forces will NEED to intergrate eventually if we are to remain a powerful voice in the world, i too would like to see increased cooperation but im realistic about timescales, it will take a generation or so but the intial work between Europes big nations is already beginning, now Russia, im all for a freindleir stance and increased cooperation with her but do not want Russian intergration with the EU, it is a corrupt anti western nation and still a threat and rival.

@TheCharlie359: If anything, the fact that (at least western) European countries have diverse specialties concerning military doctrine is the proof that we should unite under the same banner.

Although I personally think (as a Dutchman) that the Netherlands has completely lost it's credibility by abolishing our last mechanized battalions because of austerities. But we can still contribute if we integrate with Belgium and Luxembourg.

I sincerely hope that an EU defence pact will be formed soon.
