The ribbon mic is way better, but I can honestly say it is not £1500 better, if i was a rock star I would deffo buy the ribbon mic's, but for what I do at home, I can get away with a sm57, e609 & e606, I may be adding a e906 to the collection this week also lol, but I would rather make do with my budget mic's and buy another strat with the £1500 change

move the sm57 off the cone alittle and u basicly have the same sound as the royer, 1-2 inches difference of placement saves u 1500 dollars

Even when combining them, I think I'd pull the SM57 volume down a bit. I don't suppose you guys have tried a Royer 101 since you shot this video?

Royer on its own sounds best, but that's why it's $1600..
