John Mayer - Victoria [LYRICS]

A lot of people wonder what the song is about, here is my take on it :

tori is getting out of a relationship that was bad for her and maybe didn't make her feel all to good about herself. so the "how you were right" is possibly referring to how in one of her moments of self doubt she feels that her boyfriend was maybe right about her or her flaws or a failing aspect of the relationship. also, tori never actually "breaks up" with this person, she just leaves, and makes john the bearer of bad news for this boyfriend. the suitcase in the back window is definitely a symbol of her not being able to look back at where she's leaving.
the final verse "don't look down, she seemed alright" is john's way of assuring this boyfriend that her mental state is okay and that she was sure of her decision. and "you might be asking, where is tori tonight? somewhere out on the highway, I'm sure she's alright" i think is a reference to suicide... going along with the idea that tori has self doubt and confidence issues-- johns just trying to ease the boyfriends guilt

I am also a true Tori, 46 years old, & I discovered this song by accident when I purchased the CD. On the suicide "thing"; I don't think he means that her body is "literally" exposed & dead on the highway. Just that she is still driving away.

The jist of the song is: Tori is your typical female with no time for your Average Joe, so she dates Johnny Rockstar, rich, cool, good-looking and all that jazz, but it doesn't work out, so she goes to visit the guy who loves her more than life itself, and tells him what's up and takes off into the night.
