  • Thankyou,Aaron1912,for your reply. I apologise for making pompous comments about this

record-I am not a trained musician so I may be way off the mark, but I have collected 20's and 30's jazz, dance music and swing since I was a boy of 13 and I am now 59 ! I appreciate the trouble that people such as yourself have gone to in making this music available to a wider audience.

  • Many thanks

  • Although a popular band in London at the time the phrasing and solo work of this Starita outfit

is jerky and stilted, even by the standards of the time, which means it does not swing. It is not

helped by the public hall, rather flat recording. I used to have a record of this by Golden Gate

Dance Orch (California Ramblers) which does swing !

  • I like it. It has jazzy syncopation which was the style of the 1920's. Swing music didn't start until the 1930's.

  • May I ask where you got this particular phonograph record?

  • ebay

  • One of my earliest 78 finds. Some records are just TOTALLY EXCELLENT and this is one of those records. Far better than my early upload.

  • Fabulous.

  • Portions of this nifty record sound like swing before swing was popular

  • That's not the Starita band, that's Ben Bernie's Orchestra on an early 1925 film they did...
