The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is an upcoming theatrical 3D fantasy-adventure film based on The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the third published novel in C.S. Lewis's epic fantasy series, The Chronicles of Narnia. It is the third in The Chronicles of Narnia film series from Walden Media. It will be distributed by 20th Century Fox, the first in the series not to be distributed by Walt Disney Pictures.

The two younger Pevensies, Edmund (Skandar Keynes) and Lucy (Georgie Henley), are staying with their cousin Eustace Scrubb (Will Poulter). They find themselves drawn into a painting of an old ship, where they join the new King of Narnia, Caspian X (Ben Barnes).

The film will have a wide theatrical release in traditional 2D, and a limited theatrical release in Digital 3D in the United States and United Kingdom on December 10, 2010.

It was announced in January 2009 that 20th Century Fox would replace Walt Disney Pictures as distributor. Disney and Walden disputed over the budget after Prince Caspian grossed far less than The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; Disney wanted to limit it to $100 million, whereas Walden wanted a $140 million budget, for which Disney would only need to provide half. In December 2008, Disney opted not to produce the film because they feared the budget would only grow during filming and post-production. The Los Angeles Times also reported "creative differences" led to the split. Times columnist Mary McNamara further notes leaving the series could have been a mistake, because Voyage is the most popular Narnia book, while Caspian was the series' least popular and did not create the anticipation surrounding the first film. Fox had pursued the Narnia film rights in 2001 and distributed various other Walden projects. Michael Petroni was hired to rewrite the script, following a draft by Richard LaGravenese. Producer Mark Johnson admitted that "We made some mistakes with Prince Caspian don't want to make them again." He said it's "very important" that filmmakers regain that magic for Dawn Treader, now in the editing stages—and he's convinced they've found it: "I want to climb on the rooftops and say we have a wonderful Narnia movie.

The Story:

Edmund Pevensie and Lucy Pevensie, along with their cousin Eustace Scrubb, find themselves swallowed into a painting and on to a fantastic Narnian ship headed for the very edges of the world. Joining forces once again with their royal friend Caspian X and the warrior mouse Reepicheep, they are whisked away on a mysterious mission to the Lone Islands, and beyond. On this bewitching voyage that will test their hearts and spirits, the trio will face magical Dufflepuds, sinister slave traders, roaring dragons and enchanted merfolk. Only an entirely uncharted journey to Aslan's Country - a voyage of destiny and transformation for each of those aboard the Dawn Treader - can save Narnia, and all the astonishing creatures in it, from an unfathomable fate.

  • Nice! I like the way it progresses and builds so naturally. Do you do simple (non-orchestrated) sketches of your work beforehand, or do you orchestrate as you compose?

  • @alexmtemple Hey, lately i've been playing around with main ideas on the keyboard before starting a project but otherwise i dont write anything down unless i dont have time for it at the given timeframe. btw i checked out some of your work on your website, its absolutely fantastic!

  • fantastic can wait for the film

  • @freid001 thanks :D

  • Here in Holland we have something called "De Efteling;" a themepark with a fairytale like presense. Everywhere you go in the park there is music (most of the time coming out of a mushroom: NO KIDDING!) and de efteling sells CD`s with that music because all of them are great piecs of work, the best Holland has to offer in composing (and not to be underestimared masterpieces). This one would fit perfectly in De Efteling; a beautifull fairytale like piece of music.

  • 2 days ? 20h of work ? Vitaliy... you are brilliant. Fantastic work.
