No one can beat Barbara. BUT--anyone hating on Glee is just denying future generations from having access to this, REAL TALENT. Lea Michelle was in a tony-award winning broadway musical long before Glee even existed...she earned her place too. If you think GLEE is the enemy compared to half the garbage out there now, you've got your finger pointed in the wrong direction.

@kileybugrocks You're kidding, right? Trollin' in the deep? It's fucking Barbara Streisand. Lea Michele is great but you can't beat the QUEEN. Streisand sings and animals gather around to listen like fuckin' Snow White or something. She's absolutely PERFECT and quite frankly one of the best female singers in the world. I would even be okay with you saying they did an EQUALLY good job (though I wouldn't agree), but to say Michele was better? Not quite.

There will never be an end to this argument. People who heard Barbra's first will inevitably like hers best. People who heard the Glee version will inevitably like Lea's version best.

no one can beat barbra...we know that. But stop comparing glee to barbra. Lea michele did a great a job as is. Covers are better as long as you don't compare them with the original.

@BnPac1 youre absolutely right. but i wasnt irate (at least not completely). songs ARE made to be sung, indeed. but i think that certain songs need to be tackled by a vocalist who does not remind me of a disney princess. the "girl from glee" has a good voice, but i cannot help but cringe to hear her and her fellow cast singing a standard. especially one as demanding as "Don't Rain On My Parade". kudos to them for keeping good music alive. but personally, i don't have a taste for it.

@chyman They do whatever they want to do. Songs are made to be sung. That show introduces Barbara' music to the future generation and that should make us proud rather than irate. Music isn't always about a contest or a show-off. If the girl from Glee likes the song she is free to cover it. It is not that deep.
