love song (bareilles) tutorial 2

-Very- rough tutorial for Sara Bareilles' Love Song, part 2: the verse bridge and chorus riffs.

EDIT: These chords are written out to further clarify the vid. I'm not a guitar theorist. Some of them are wrong. But since there's now a series of people who felt the need to tell me so, I figured I'd better -leave- them wrong so readers could make sense of the comment thread. Let me repeat: I'm trying to help. This video is to save you working out the stuff I did. If it's helpful, great. If it's not, could you move along already? Because honestly I get way too easily sucked into internet arguments and I just don't have the energy...


Chords for this section, for the record are, in order:
Gmin - G in bass
Fmaj - A in bass
Bbmaj - Bb in bass - I keep saying B in the vid but I mean Bb
Cmaj - C in bass
Gmin - G in bass
Fmaj - A in bass
Bbmaj - Bb in bass

then the chorus:
Gmin - G in bass
Cmaj - C in bass
Fmaj - A in bass
Bbmaj - Bb in bass
Gmin - G in bass
Cmaj - C in bass
Fmaj - A in bass
Bbmaj - Bb in bass
Gmin - G in bass
Fmaj - A in bass
Dmin - D in bass
Gmaj7 - B in bass
Bbmaj - Bb in bass
Cmaj - C in bass

...and from there it's back to the verse riff.


For the record, when I say 'bass' I mean the left hand, not the chord position. Some of these chords are played first or second inversion. You can use your common sense here - you can probably work out the inversions I've used from the vid.

NOTE: In these videos the song is played an octave higher than it should be, because I forgot to transpose down on the keyboard.

TY! FINALLY SOMEONE WHO GIVES THE ENTIRE PIANO TUTORIAL! :) although i love this, im still kinda new to piano keys and chords etc.  can you show the individual notes if you maaybe/hopefully have time? :) but if dont thaats okaay and ty again for posting this :)

I think it's pretty unlikely to be honest that I'll do anything more with this - I don't really play covers as a general rule and tend to concentrate on recording original work. But if you go on the net and investigate using the guide I posted (and some of the comments in the threads) you'll be able to find out what notes to play for each chord. A little more work, but everything you need is online if you look hard enough, I promise.

Very good, yours is the only tutorial that :

a) Shows the whole song

b) Doesn't assume we are all dummies by constantly repeating whole phrases over and over when a new chord is inrtoduced.
