@Linguaspectrum : Ah yes now I understand it. You didn't say that 'some' can only be used in combination with countable nouns. It was my erroneous interpretation which made me think that.

water, is uncountable. Though people tend to say: 'some water'. For example: "I need some water and soap to clean the toilet" or "Bring me some water please, my dog is thirsty". Why can I use 'some' here although 'water' is an uncountable noun.
