On Monday evening, Aug 3, 2009, Senator Harkin joined members of the Senate Health, Education, Labors and Pension (HELP) Committee to discuss the benefits of The Affordable Health Choices Act for all Americans. Tom touted the prevention and wellness elements of the bill, which will reduce incidents of chronic disease and rein in the high costs of health care in America. He took to the Senate floor as his staff completed a state-wide listening tour of all 99 counties to hear Iowans concerns about health care.
Harkin is an idiot. Vote him out he does not represent the People of IA. Get rid of Harkin. Healthcare reform is socialist medicine. Harking just want to take care of all the rejects in iowa.

BTW Sen. Harkin, when I was heavy, I didn't drink soda and I didn't eat out. Remember this when considering your "fat tax": any tax on soda is also a tax on sick people!

A few choice words for Sen. Harkin - At15:38 he brings up arthritis (this is in the context of "prevention"?) Osteo-arthritis is age related; I don't believe there is anything they can do to prevent it.
And then he cuts to my favorite peeve-his obesity rag. You can't mandate/legislate exercise-NO AMOUNT OF GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION WOULD HAVE HELPED ME; IT WOULD HAVE ONLY MADE MATTERS WORSE; the problem wasn't food and it wasn't exercise. The government needs to BUTT OUT.

It is odd isn't it? Not that I trust the flu vaccine - I always ended up getting sick the winter after I received the vaccine. I stopped getting the flu vaccine, and got the pneumonia vaccine. I rarely get sick now. (and you're absolutely right - politicians stink!)

I've read the CDC report. They are absolutely correct. It is curious that people my age suddenly have an immunity to swine flu because we were born before 1957. I'd say damn curious. The ECDC who stated in their report that when an elderly person contracts this flu, they tend to have it worse then the young. Guess where it's stated they obtained that information from. The American CDC. Something stinks in Washington D.C. I know! It's the politicians!

Because we may have some immunity from being exposed to it in the 50's. I'm not defending Harkin, though - he doesn't have a clue to what prevention is - what he's talking about is early detection (colonoscopy) - whether it's preventable is debateable; genetics has alot to do with it too.

Harkin your full of crap!! I am a nurse and I understand the system and you don't! Explain why the elderly aren't among the first to get the swine flu shots this winter. It's usually children and the elderly because they are most at risk! YOU and Obama are attempting to legalize mursder of our elderly!! We aren't stupid Harkin but you and the Obama administration are! You forget that you WORK FOR US!!!
