In my opinion, the best breeds for police/military work, personal protection, Schutzhund, PSA, French Ring, etc. are the man stoppers (Dobermann, Rottweiler, Beauceron, Dutch Shepherd Dog, German Shepherd Dog, Belgian Malinois, etc.). The man stoppers are more loyal, obedient, protective, and socially dominant than breeds such as the Airedale Terrier, Giant Schnauzer, Bouvier des Flandres, Kerry Blue Terrier, the bully breeds, etc.

@cwooley89 it gives them a less fierce and agressive look i think , before our current Bouv we had one like yours, floppy ears with short tail, and although im all about not cutting things off, i must say i like them the most like that :p the one we have now has a tail, and it really wasnt the tail i was expecting somehow, its very curly haha, it didnt fit right in my mental picture, but i love em all the same ;)

@ScetZ I have recently got one and only the tail was cut not the ears, I have to agree I like the floppy ears much better

this video doesnt even begin to describe the greatness that is the Bouvier, also, i dont know about the U.S., but here in the Netherlands their ears and tail are no longer being cut, which in my opinion is a good thing, i like the hanging ears much more then the spikey ones, and offcourse no more unnescesary (forgive my poor english) puppy abuse, although the long tail took some getting used to. And i agree with bank80, popularity only creates inbred dogs with health issues...
everybody speeks about all of the good qualitys, but never mention their inteligence. this is without a doubt the smartest breed I have ever been around. We are on our 2nd ,our first lived to be 15 years old. We now have a 12 week old! I cant say enough about the Bouvier..love them ..love them!!
