Faith Defenders Robert Morey Says Hank Hanegraaff Needs Pity

Bob Morey of Faith Community Church & radio host of "Bob Morey Live" attacks Hanegraaff as an uneducated "high school" graduate. Hanegraaff (the "Bible Answer Man"), is president of the Christian Research Institute (founded by Dr Walter Martin, author of "The Kingdom of the Cults", published by Bethany House Publishers & revised & updated by Ravi Zacharius, internationally known apologist with radio show "Let My People Think" featuring guests such as James Dobson, Chuck Swindoll & Charles Stanley). Martin was a frequent guest on the John Ankerberg show as well. Hanegraaff wrote "Christianity in Crisis" (published by Harvest House Publishers) with help from his CRI staff after Michael Horton's book "The Agony of Deceit" published by Moody Press came out first concerning the Word-Faith preachers such as Benny Hinn, Robert Tilton, Kenneth Copeland, Jimmy Swaggart, Peter Popoff, Kenneth Hagin, TBN's Paul & Jan Crouch & others. Walter Martin contributed to Horton's book. It is interesting that Morey & Hanegraaff do not like each other at all & each discredits the other's ministry. It is also interesting that Hanegraaff moved from the West Coast to the East Coast while Morey moved from the East Coast to the West Coast. Both ministries have been involved in a lot of "drama" over the years. Morey himself continues to utilize shoddy scholarship, slander, shady business dealings, sensationalism & fraudulent claims to sell his ministry merchandise & secure monetary donations from "gullible" (as Morey calls them)Christians or other unsuspecting parties. Hanegraaff's comments come in reference to a report Morey wrote in his national "Researcher" newsletter attacking Gregory A. Boyd, author of the book, "Oneness Pentecostals and the Trinity." Boyd's book was endorsed by Hanegraaff & the CRI staff. In a letter by Dr. Boyd he states, "..."Truth-Seeker Bob [Morey] went after me with a vengence. He was trying to prove Hank Hanegraaff was incompetent in endorsing my book by proving that I was a heretic on the basis of my former book "Trinity and Process". He sent letters around the country telling Christian distributors to stop selling my books because I was (among other things) a process theologian, that I denied the Incarnation, I denied the Trinity!!!, and I was, in short, a closet liberal. His tactics half worked as my book sales dropped significantly. I still get hassaling mail from people about this. Well, to make a long story short, I have never in my life encountered, or even imagined, such blatant malice, deceit, and vile ungodliness -- let alone in someone who taunts himself as a Christian leader. At first I thought this was just an extraordinarily dull person (I had never heard of him before) who couldn't read, who had an extraordinary meglomaniac streak which made him want to be a "scholar." Hence he looked silly. But, as the case wore on, I began to see that the situation was far worse. He 'had' to understand my work enough to know 'how' to distort it. And, I began to see, he had to be lying intentionally to be so consistent and manipulative with them. This man, I finally came to see, WAS EVIL. He's a megalomaniac with a vengence, and so far as I can see, not an ounce of honesty or integrity to curb it with. This man is, in my estimation, very bad for Christianity, and very dangerous." Ad-hominem and ranting is the extent of Morey's ability to communicate. Why anyone listens to this idiot is beyond imagination. He is not an educated apologist, and simply will not deal with issues, expecially when someone has a legitimate argument of Calvinism for instance. I have heard Morey say many times to a caller, "you are obviously an idiot" when the caller begins to refute him. Morey is not an apologist, not a theologian. The guy is not worth the price of admission and a liar.

Just to update you & others who may read this, Morey fled California in March 2009 after it became obvious that the California Department of Corporations was going to investigate his suspected securities fraud in the illegal acquisition of his now torn down "church building" in Irvine, California. Morey's excuse was he had to leave suddenly to help his ailing mother-in-law in New York. Latest reports put Morey in Pennsylvania. Google search MOREYLINKS.

Read the former employees' testimonies about how he deceptively took over the ministry, the employees who got fired for not rubber stamping his misuse of funds, etc., etc., etc. Go to waltermartin. com and see what Martin's eldest daughter has to say about Hanegraaff.
